Okay real part one- Chiang Mai First time around

Here I am waiting..and waiting at the airport.

We had a quick stop-over in Taiwan??? Like really quick...20-30 minutes??? It's funny, in the waiting area they had a drink machine...but ofcourse it wasn't in dollars or Korean won... It wasn't until I decided to go for a walk outside the lounge (probably not recommended if you don't wanna risk missing your flight) that we noticed the places with food. BUT ofcourse the plane food had done a number on me and I wasn't hungry....isn't that always the way it works?

SURPRISE!!! we made it alive. So, after we arrived in Bangkok we stayed over night in a motel in the backpackers district and then took another plane the next day to a place in northern Thailand called Chiang Mai. This was maybe 20 bucks more than the 13 hr bus ride and well only took around 45 minutes.

The guesthouse that we stayed in in Chiang mai was really great...aside from the two twin beds pushed together. I kept getting stuck in the crack between the two beds....but there was lots of room if you didn't wanna cuddle. The above pic is a restaurant near where we were staying...no it really isn't indie food (though I'd be interested to know what that would taste like) it was indian food...and Dean said it wasn't delicious. I did eat at a couple of good places though. I had my first taste of Fried Morning Glory (OMG absolutely marvelous---and no I don't think it's the same as the weeds that grow in our gardens back home...though I'm tempted to test that theory out on some unsuspecting victims when I return home...tempted).

And ofcourse the beginning of an adventure is not perfect without a shopping spree. I bought quite a few things while in Chiang Mai (I think just before we went to Cambodia and after we returned from Pai) but in this pic we were either just coming back or going too a shopping trip. Dean looks pleased doesn't he? He keeps bugging me that I spent all our money on stuff (maybe...but not all of it) but I did offer to pay. What do you say to someone that offers to buy you things....no?????? SCOFF!

Okay, it's 11:30pm and I am tired from sitting here and writing already. I hope you have enjoyed this installment of Annie's Adventures in South East Asia. Stay tuned for my next installment....Pai and our tattoo adventures!
